Well drilling for geothermal probes

Geothermal drilling of wells is performed for further installation of geothermal probe and heat pump. Heating system on the basis of heat pump is able to provide heat for detached houses and for enterprises and farms. Specialists estimate geological section on the site for determination of quantity of wells. Depth of well is defined for maximum supply of heat and optimum selection of heat pump.
Upon drilling, geothermal probe is lowered in the well, connected with pump station in the room by special pipeline.

Drilling units allow drilling of wells with diameter up to 152 mm. Drilling of well with depth up to 65 m will take 1 day, with depth 65 – 90 m, it may take up to 2 days. There are 3 days from conclusion of the agreement to commencement of drilling.

Geothermal probe is also a heat exchanger, and it exchanges heat between heat medium and ground.

U-probe

Vertical ground probe

Use of ground probes is proven to be reliable solution for supply of ground heat. At the depth of 18 meters, earth temperature is positive (up to +10oC) and constant during the year. Drilling of well is performed to the depth of 100 meters, and special construction of plastic pipes is lowered into the well. Anti-freezing solution, named brine, is circulated in these pipes. Brine transmits ground heat through heat exchange unit to heat pump. The well is filled with solution forming solid mass. This structure is a vertical ground probe. If required, probe length may be divided into several wells. Vertical ground probe especially fits for small land sites, where there is no enough space for construction of ground collector.

Assembly of brine circuit includes the following stages:

  • calculation of quantity and depth of wells as per calculations of heat losses of buildings
  • well drilling
  • manufacture of geothermal probes and its pressing
  • lowering of geothermal probes
  • girth of probes and introduction of circuit in heat assembly below depth of freezing
Mechanism of operation of heat pump is based on use of heat energy from water or soil. Anti-freezing fluid, after obtaining heat from well, is transmitted from pipe to heat pump, where its temperature lowers, and output heat is used for heating and cooking. Further cooled fluid returns, where obtains heat again. High transformation coefficient allows obtaining up to 4,2 kW of heat energy consuming only 1kW of electric power.

Installation of heat assembly

It is performed as per draft project, which may differ from provisions of technical task.
There is strapping of brine circuit with heat pump, solar plant, indirect hot water tank and storage tank for the heating system in the heat assembly.
